How and Whereis the Fraxel or CO2 Laser Treatment Done?

The procedure is done in our office. It is done under topical anesthesia. The duration of the procedure is about 30 minutes to an hour depending on the extent of the affected areas. It is done as an outpatient procedure.

What is the Difference Between Laser Skin Resurfacing and Chemical Peels?

Skin tightening is done with LASER technology. This Light therapy is directed to the water contained within the skin. It may take 3 to 5 sessions to obtain the final results. It is a more progressive and gentle process.

Chemical peel is the application of control chemical acid to the skin. It is a one-time process but is the more aggressive one.

What is the Recovery From Laser Resurfacing Like?

After laser resurfacing, you may experience redness and sensitivity in the skin that is similar to a sunburn. The newly exposed skin will be susceptible to sun damage, so you may need to adjust your activities in order to protect the skin following treatment. However, these symptoms typically fade within about a week of treatment. Besides taking special care to avoid excessive sun exposure, you will be able to resume all normal activities immediately after treatment.

What Results Can I Expect from Laser Resurfacing?

The results from your laser resurfacing treatment can take a few weeks to become visible. After treatment, the skin will take a few days to heal as any side effects fade. You should notice improvements in hyperpigmentation, scarring, and other discoloration fairly soon.

Improvements in wrinkles, lines and other skin laxity concerns will develop over the following weeks as collagen production increases in the body. Most patients will require multiple laser resurfacing treatments to achieve their desired results. During your consultation, Dr. Clavijo will help you determine the best approach for your cosmetic goals.
